The Press

Bite Harder Press struggled for many years to find its footing but was finally officially established in 2018 with the publication of its first edition: Contusion. It is the culmination of several years of apprenticeship at Greenboathouse Press (where Bite Harder Press books are currently printed), sporadic editing experiences, and many, many years of academic research into private presses, small presses, artists’ books, little magazines, and some other things along the way. The logo for the press is designed by Megan Perra at Feral Five Creative Co. and is based off an actual feral Manx cat named Oscar, who is both tough and sweet. Her enigmatic nature inspires the aesthetics for the press which strives to publish work that is strong in its vulnerability.

The Proprietor

Caitlin is a recent graduate who first became involved in the world of fine printing when she took the Writing & Publishing Diploma at Okanagan College. Since then, she has gone on to complete her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in English. She was the creative director for the student-run literary magazine OK Magpie, had editorial assistant credits on a few issues of Ryga: A Journal of Provocations, and rebranded the SSHRC funded SpokenWeb project along with Evan Berg. She regularly designs event posters for Inspired Word Café, and previously handled all promotional materials for the AMP Lab at UBCO. When she is not busy making things she can be found hiking with Aldus (Manutius) the dog, or hanging out with her feral cat friends.
